Supporting medical aid in Gaza and the West Bank

Aug 13, 2025

As Palestinians continue to struggle for health and dignity, Anglicans are supporting medical aid.

ABM AID is part of a consortium that funds a portion of staff time and medical supplies for vital humanitarian work at Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza and St Luke’s Hospital in the West Bank.

In the month of July alone, Anglicans contributed to surgical operations for 48 inpatients, aged 8 to 70, at Al Ahli in Gaza. Operations performed on more than one patient included limb amputations, skin grafts, ‘abdominal exploration’, debriding infected tissue and inserting metal plates in jaws and other broken bones. In the same month, Anglicans supported Al Ahli to treat 172 outpatients. X-ray or CT (Computed Tomography) scans were conducted on 164 of these outpatients.

Treatments at St Luke’s Hospital were of a different nature. In July, Anglicans contributed to treatments for 43 inpatients and 170 outpatients. Common inpatient treatments were caesarean sections, operations on appendixes and hernias, and arthroscopy. Patients subsidised at St Luke’s were those who had been affected by the economic downturn in the West Bank.

ABM AID acknowledges the tireless work of hospital staff in Gaza and the West Bank, the strong coordination by the Diocese of Jerusalem, and the valuable support by Anglican donors.
