Songs of Praise supports Ukraine

Oct 4, 2022

On Sunday 11 September, Songs of Praise, a fundraising concert organised by the Rev Joan Claring Bould, raised over $5000 for ABM’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal. St Augustine’s, Unley, hosted more than 150 audience members who heard from ABM’s Meagan Schwarz about the impact their generous giving will have on the families suffering from the current invasion of Ukraine. The compere for the concert, Mr Ewart Shaw opened the concert by sharing his own childhood story as a Ukrainian refugee to Australia. Mr Amnon Shiloh then sang the Ukrainian National Anthem and was later joined by the Tea Tree Gully Orchestra to play some Ukrainian folk songs. The Adelaide Benefit Concert Choir lead the audience in some of the greatest hymns from the Anglican tradition, ably accompanied by Shirley Gale OAM on the organ. The concert also featured other talented Adelaide locals who gave of their time and talents to ensure the success of this concert. ABM would like to thank Joan for her vision and determination to see this concert through to its fantastic conclusion. We invite all our supporters to continue to pray with us for the people of Ukraine:

Loving God,
We join with people in many parts of the world
to pray for the people of Ukraine.
Console those who have lost loved ones,
those who are injured,
and those who are frightened.
We pray especially for children, women and men
who have fled their homes.
Give warm and generous hearts
to those whose countries they have fled to.
And bring peace to our warring world.
In the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,
Amen.
