Vanuatu Prime Minister Urges International Action on Climate Change

“Time seems totally out of step with the reality of climate change’s impact on the lives of Pacific people.” These words came from the Prime Minister of Vanuatu at the Pacific Islands Forum held this week in Fiji.

Prime Minister Bob Loughman expressed the impatience of many Pacific Islands leaders with the slow pace of response by the international community to the damage already caused – and much more is threatened – to vulnerable Island nations through the increased severity of natural disasters and sea level rises caused by climate change.

Mr Loughman wants the Forum to agree to take climate change to the International Court of Justice.
