Anglican Church of Melanesia Celebrates 50 Years of Independence
On Sunday 22nd June, the Anglican Church of Melanesia celebrated 50 years since its inauguration. In 1975, it became the Province of the Anglican Church of Melanesia. There was a wonderful celebration service at St Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara, Solomon Islands: a thanksgiving, a commemoration, and a joyous celebration of the past 50 years the church has journeyed through.

Something special is happening in Papua New Guinea. Across the country, adults are getting a second chance at an education. In Moreguina, 220km southeast of the nation’s capital of Port Moresby, a group of men and women raise their certificates proudly. They are the graduates of the Moreguina Literacy School - adults that can now read and write, something many Australians take for granted.

ABM’s Fundraising through Stamps goes back to 1920
In September 1920 the ABM Review carried the news that a Mr H.G. Simpson, a teacher on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait, had volunteered to coordinate the sale of new and used postage stamps for ABM. By December 1928 he had raised almost $30,000 in today’s money.

Local Church in Myanmar Helps People Recover and Rebuild After Earthquake
The Church of the Province of Myanmar (CPM) is getting used to responding to emergencies. When an earthquake struck the Dioceses of Mandalay and Taungoo in March 2025, the church and its network of volunteers were quick to respond. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, ABM AID was able to support the distribution of food relief and cash assistance to more than 500 earthquake-affected families across both dioceses.
