Advocate for Reconciliation
Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians should not just be a dream.
| Numbulwar Church of the Holy Spirit congregation |
In so many ways the movement for reconciliation in Australia has broken many barriers and given us new hope for what might be possible, but the momentum needs to be maintained and supported in its ongoing development.
ABM encourages you to become involved with us in supporting reconciliation amongst all people. You might join a local group, invite the local Indigenous community to share a meal in your parish, support an ABM Indigenous project, or invite an Indigenous speaker to your next parish event. Most importantly we would encourage you to pray for the day when we do not need to speak of reconciliation for there is nothing left to reconcile.
PRAYERS FOR RECONCILIATION:
We offer to the church these prayers - they may be used during the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation, NAIDOC week or indeed at anytime.
Reconciliation Prayer
Lord God, bring us together as one,
reconciled with you and reconciled with each other.
You made us in your likeness,
you gave us your Son Jesus Christ.
He has given us forgiveness from sin.
Lord God, bring us together as one,
different in culture,
but given new life in Jesus Christ,
together as your body, your Church, your people.
Lord God, bring us together as one,
reconciled, healed, forgiven,
sharing you with others as you have called us to do.
In Jesus Christ, let us be together as one.
Amen
