We watch in horror as the death toll mounts in Sulawesi, Indonesia, following a massive earthquake and tsunami that struck on 28 Sept, 2018.
The death toll has now risen to over 1,700 as search teams comb through rubble and travel to more remote coastal villages. More than 48,000 people have been displaced, with assessments ongoing, and more than 191,000 people are in “urgent need” of humanitarian assistance.
ABM has launched an appeal to assist survivors in Sulawesi with immediate relief needs, and with rebuilding their homes and livelihoods. ABM funds will be channelled through ACT Alliance, which has member agencies based in Indonesia.
ACT Alliance members on the ground have reported that items such as tarpaulins, blankets, tents and food as well as health services are in short supply for the increasing number of displaced. Vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, people with disabilities, and pregnant women, in particular need help as the rainy season draws closer.

ABM is hoping to raise AUD $20,000 for the disaster response. Please consider a gift to help the many people desperately in need.
Please pray for all whose lives have been lost and affected by this disaster in Indonesia, and also for those who are responding on the ground.
May, 2019 ABM’s supporters responded generously and quickly, enabling ABM to send funds to the response carried out by Action by Churches Together (ACT) Indonesia Forum. This has contributed towards the relief and recovery efforts to reach more than 12,000 individuals. Read more
