COMbat HIV and AIDS

New Project for 2008

The Church of Melanesia (COM) has begun to look at how the Church might become more proactive in its
response to the HIV problem. ABM, in partnership with the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea, has been able to facilitate HIV and AIDS training for COM Vanuatu.

To help prevent and reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS in the province of Melanesia, there is a need for AIDS education in local communities to combat the ignorance that causes stigma and discrimination. Education will also promote prevention campaigns and reinforce the provision of treatment and care for those living with HIV.

Here are some of the ways your gift will be used:

  • $500 will help print materials to be used in the HIV prevention campaigns
  • $1,000 will help fund a two-week Peer Education workshop in Santo
  • $1,500 will help provide a Trainer of Trainers for the Peer Education program
  • $2,000 will help provide counselling treatment and care for those living with HIV

We need to raise $35,000* in 2008
