Enhancing Ministry in Vanuatu
New Project for 2008
Scratch beneath the surface of Vanuatu’s glossy tourist image and you will discover that this South Pacific paradise is beset by the same problems facing poor Christians throughout much of the Pacific. A massive youth population, growing urbanisation, and tribal tensions are just some of the issues with which the church must contend. The Diocese of Vanuatu and the Diocese of Banks and Torres are proactively relating to their changing environments and encouraging priests and lay people to pioneer new models of mission and ministry. Both dioceses are eager to grow their relations with the Anglican Church in Australia and keen to change Vanuatu’s image from an idyllic holiday paradise to a more realistic vision of a close-neighbouring country, ready to engage in dialogue and relationship with Australian Anglicans.
Here are some of the ways your gift will be used:
- $1,000 resources ABM to strengthen relationships between the church in Vanuatu and Australia by developing initiatives such as pilgrimages and support for Ni-Vanuatu Theology students
- $3,500 will enable a key leader from the Diocese of Vanuatu to visit and learn from the Australian Anglican Church
We need to raise $4,500 in 2008
