Encounter Program
| Father Isaiah Masida with Father Cameron and Kate Venables |
Turn to the book of Acts and you will quickly be gripped by the profusion of journeys undertaken by the founders of the church (9.38, 10.5, 11.2, 11.22, and 11.25 for starters). It is evident that God’s Spirit led early Christians into a greater understanding of mission and theology by leading them into new communities, and even into new cultures.
ABM’s Encounter Program is based on our experience that when future leaders from Partner churches have the opportunity to spend time in the Australian church, transformational change occurs in both communities.
Visitors from Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Korea and the Philippines have added to the richness of the Australian church and gone home to put their experiences and learning to good use.
Parishes or Dioceses interested in hosting an
Encounter visitor are encouraged to contact ABM. It is expected that the hosts will raise most of the costs associated with the visit but funds are still needed to enable ABM’s administrative input to organise and facilitate these valuable links. As Encounter visitors continue to journey to and from the church in Australia we hope that the Church may be strengthened in faith and increase in numbers daily.
We need to raise $10,000 in 2008
