The Revd Gloria Shipp
Diocese of Bathurst
| The Rev'd Gloria Shipp |
This project needs $24,000 in 2012.
The Reverend Gloria Shipp is the co-ordinator of a ministry team called ‘Walkabout Ministries’ in the Diocese of Bathurst. She runs men’s and women’s camps for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, giving them opportunities to share their life experiences. These weekend camps in Dubbo are a time of fellowship, and a way to connect with the communities in the local area.
Her ministry is shared with her husband, Eddie Shipp and Uncle Arthur, a Wiradjurri man. They help run the men's weekends and share their knowledge, focusing on leadership and offering counselling as well.
Rev’d Gloria runs the women's weekends. The women are able to tell their stories and talk about issues which affect them and their families.
Part of her ministry involves travelling on mission trips to areas within the Diocese such as Bourke, Brewarinna and Condobolin. She also holds a weekly service in a community centre in Dubbo.
