Work on the Dhurga Language continues with Rev’d John Harris helping to facilitate workshops to recover the Aboriginal language of the Mogo/Bateman’s Bay area. Leadership is also provided by Bob and Muriel Slockee (Tom’s son and wife) as part of a team to research records and transcripts of the language. The language is then shared in two Primary schools and work is proceeding on a Secondary school program. This helps Aboriginal students to be confident in their identity as they learn the language of their old people and ancestors. It also helps reveal the culture and lifestyle of the traditional people of the area. One aim is the production of a handbook about the Dhurga language.
